Please do the following before registering Pervasive to resolve the issue. Please also note that anti-virus might affect Pervasive during installation whereby it will block some features from being installed. You can uninstall through the Control Panel. After Pervasive has been uninstalled, reinstall Pervasive as per attached document. When reinstalling Pervasive you might need to temporarily disable the anti-virus. Also, under your anti-virus 'Options', click on de-select the option 'Enable Script Blocking'. After Pervasive has been successfully installed, you may then re-enable anti-virus Auto-Protect and Script Blocking.
Please also check if there’s no conflicting Program (i.e. any other programs besides Office or Pastel)
4 Steps totalStep 1: Add Pervasive Ports
1. If you are using Windows Vista and higher, please turn off the User Account Control using instructions in the attached document.
2. Add the Pervasive file called w3dbsmgr.exe located under C:Program FilesPervasive SoftwarePSQLbin to the list of Exceptions in Windows Firewall. 3. Add the 2 Pervasive ports 1583 and 3351 as TCP. To add the ports or Pervasive file please follow the steps below. Please note that if you are using Windows 8 the settings might be slightly different.
a. Go to Start …Control Panel and click on Windows Firewall.
b. On Windows Firewall screen, click on Advanced Settings as shown below Step 2: Create Inbound Rule
On Advanced Settings screen, click on Inbound Rules and select New Rule as shown below.
Step 3: Rule Screen Setup
You will get the screen as shown below to add the ports or programs. Please add the ports and file as mentioned above.

(Enter Relevant Key Here) on the Pervasive Software License Administrator manually whilst running the Pervasive Software License Administrator as Windows administrator. To open the Pervasive Software License Administrator as Windows administrator please follow the steps below.
a. Go to the location C:Program Files (x86)Pervasive SoftwarePSQLbin. Please note that the path might be different depending on the version of Windows you are running. b. Right click on the file guilcadm.exe and select the option Run as administrator to open the Pervasive Software License Administrator. c. You can then type the key as above and click on Activate.
If you get the error, access denied when trying to register then you need to log on the machine physically and as an Administrator.
According to our records, your client should have Pervasive Version 10 Workgroup for Windows installed on all computers that use Pastel. Please ensure that this is so. If you have the incorrect version of Pervasive installed on any machine, you need to uninstall and reinstall Pervasive.
Please find attached instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall Pervasive. After you have installed Pervasive V10 run Components Utility. You need to re-register Pastel just to refresh it. Check that Pervasive is registered for multi users by going to Start….All Programs….Pervasive…PSQL10…Utilities….License Administrator and check that You have two licenses one for permanent user 1 and another one for user count increase.
For Pervasive Workgroup for Windows you do not need a license key to register as the license is integrated into the Pastel registration. When you have registered Pastel, Pervasive should also register. If pervasive does not register when you have registered Pastel you need to check the following:
1. Ensure that you have installed the correct version of Pervasive by going to the Control Panel and you click on Programs and Features. The program should show that it is Workgroup as shown below.
2. Make sure that you are logged in as Windows Administrator when you register Pastel. 3. You need to be logged onto the machine physically on the computer and not remotely. 4. Ensure that your anti-virus or firewall is not blocking the registration of Pervasive. 5. If you are using Window Vista, Window 7 or Windows 8 ensure that User Account Control is turned off or set to Never Notify.
